Optical Illusions Part V

It was a buzz of activity at the neurologist's office. I finished my paperwork and we worked on my list of questions. The nurse called us back to the exam room. Dr. K came in almost immediately. I was armed and ready with my list of questions. He asked me how long I had been experiencing the speech difficulty, swallowing problems and chewing problems. I told him since last Saturday so for 5 days. I had been in the exam room about 3 minutes when he gave me the words that changed my life, "I am 99.9% sure that you have Myasthenia Gravis. I can be sure with a muscle test." What!?!?  I had never heard of Myasthenia Gravis before.

Dr. K led Karen and me to another exam room and hooked my arm up to a machine. Karen was watching over me like a mother bear. He told me to be careful not to hit him while he was doing the test. Karen told me later that she thought Dr. K's face looked just like Todd's face when Todd was playing a video game. He was focused and intent. It was definite he announced, "You have Myasthenia Gravis. I am admitting you to the hospital immediately. Your friend can take you to the hospital to be admitted." But...I have to go to work, I have to take care of my dog, I don't have any clothes, I can't go to the hospital. These are just a few of the comments that I made. The only option Dr. K gave me was if I wanted Karen to take me and admit me to the hospital or if I wanted to go in an ambulance. After the initial shock, I asked him how long he thought I would be in the hospital. I could expect to be there 2 weeks. He thought that we could get MG under control in about that amount of time. MG has a mind of his own and as we know...things are not always what they seem. I had to trust the Lord that  this doctor I met less than 10 minutes earlier was making the right decision for me and for my life.

"But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him." Jeremiah 17:7
